After excellent tourism results, Interesting events await us in Fužine starting early September. Gorski Kotar can boast of outstanding tourism results. This year, it records a record number of overnight stays – a whopping 16% more compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019. Fužine, along with an increased number of guest arrivals, also records longer stays. In addition to its natural beauty, this region offers guests numerous cultural, entertaining, and sporting events that take place every weekend. These events will continue at this pace until late autumn, and at the beginning of September, we can look forward to two interesting events.

Fužine – the destination of the international rally Pothole Rodeo

Fužine is where the grand international rally Pothole Rodeo concludes after covering 4500 kilometers. Participants in this parade of vintage cars and motorcycles pass through 13 countries in Southeastern Europe in 12 days and have a great time. There’s no competition in this adventurous rally; the focus is on camaraderie, with a humanitarian touch. Its uniqueness lies in the rule that vehicles must not cost more than 500 euros and must be older than 20 years! Around 150 vehicles and about a hundred mopeds will have their final destination in the cowboy village of Roswell near Fužine on Thursday, September 1st.

Medun Fest

The 3rd edition of Medun Fest in the municipality of Fužine brings a plethora of events. Everything revolves around medun – a bee product that originates from the sap of deeper plant layers. This popular event will take place from Friday, September 2nd, to Sunday, September 4th. Expect concerts, exhibitions of local family farms and bee products, delicious tastings of honey and honey wine ice creams, as well as homemade honey cakes, along with expert lectures and presentations on beekeeping. Medun Fest will be interesting for the youngest ones too, with creative workshops, carriage rides, and a chance to explore an exhibition of children’s works on the theme of honey and bees. Kids with excess energy can enjoy an inflatable castle, while their parents can learn how to make a nourishing honey-based face mask. Medun Fest will also have a humanitarian aspect – a commendable tree planting campaign titled “Plant Your Fir and Save the Bee.” Visitors to this sweet weekend can find refreshment in the restaurant of the Bitoraj Hotel, where we have prepared special gastronomic surprises based on medun.
